the frail wings of fleeting desire...

I'm getting to point where I'm really happy with the new KC strips that I'm producing. I did a lot of writing the past couple of weeks, and I think the coming months of the free online KISSING CHAOS: 'TIL I DIE comic, will be awesome!

This particular week is an important one, and has an important role to play in the grand scheme of things. I can't explain what role, and in fact... I've said too much.

In other works, I'm still waiting for my re-writing of Korean comics gig to star. It'll be nice when that gets going, as I won't be as stressed to find freelance illustration gigs. Also, I'm still in the process of developing a comic for OWL magazine, and working on other media projects that I can't talk about as of yet...

Hope there are folks out there diggin' the latest KC offerings. drop me a line sometime.

PS- nuff respect due to Kayla Hillier for helping editing one of the lines. I only sort of used what you suggested, but thanks nonetheless!

Maybe if my heart stops beating...

it won't hurt this much.

360 recoding contracts be damned (yes, they are the new lucifer), I still love Paramore, and will probably quote them randomly from time to time, depending on my mood.

Yes... I suppose my taste in music is unapologetically waning.

There is a new KISSING CHAOS 'TIL I DIE comic strip available on transmission-x.com. It's new KC, for FREE folks!

I know I totally have to update the myspace page. I hopefully will get to that this week.

Check me out on TWITTER. Follow me. See the boring life of a comicker as it happens, reduced to short, periodically typed sentences.

This weeks strip was created while listening to MONSTER BOBBY and BAT FOR LASHES.

these are a few of my favourite things...

A little rundown of things I dig at the moment...

1. Taking the last bus home from the city.

2. Taking the last bus home from the city, and seeing all the thugged out kids returning to their suburban sanctuaries.

3. My guitar.

4. Super Mario Galaxy!

4. Seeing Monster Bobby, Nicole Atkins and the Pippettes last night.

That is all.

new comic from a twittering fool...

Originally published at www.mydestroyer.com. You can comment there.

A new comic is up in the Zeroes and Ones chapter of Kissing Chaos 'Til I Die, exclusively on Transmission-x.com. Check it, yo! I know what you're thinking, the story seems like it's going nowhere... but I assure you, what you'll read in this chapter is a pretty significant part in the thousand piece puzzle that is KISSING CHAOS.

In other news, I thought I'd give TWITTER a try. I promise to try and not be boring. Please follow me (find me under "arthurdelacruz"), if there is anyone out there who actually reads this. And if you follow me, I'll return the favor! I think it'll definitely be interesting...

Heroes creator to fans: "I'm super sorry."

I was never a huge fan of the show HEROES to begin with. I've always had a been there, done that sort of attitude towards it, mainly because the show liberally swipes from different comic book sources, and comes off being original to an uninformed TV audience. Yet, week to week, I still tuned in, hoping that something good might come out of the mess that is that show. And it has had its share of, "moments". And as a comic fan, I do feel that I'm rooting for the show, as it's success in a way validates it's source material.

I felt that this season the show was particularly cringe worthy, with only the most recent couple of episodes turning it up a notch. And thankfully, the creator of the show, Tim Kring himself, as apologized for the show's wackness!

I love this article found on entertainment weekly's website.

Hopefully the people behind the show, who are very talented can get it together and raise HEROES beyond adaptations of recycled comic book cliches to something that shows that there is something special about super heroes, and that comics can be a place to find out more about them... or something more eloquent than that.

I'm, me...?

Hmm. I notice that other people who blog routinely do an informative post explaining who they are and what they do for any possible new readers. I thought I'd give it a go.

Well, I'm Arthur Dela Cruz, a freelance creative person. At one time I may have referred to myself as an illustrator, which is true. Then for a while I was a graphic designer, and then I was a comic artist, then a writer, and an art director type. Then I would've said I did some work in film, and advertising. Basically, in terms of work, I'm all of the above. So, I think "creative" is kind of a blanket label that covers all the bases. ;)

I live in just outside of Toronto, in a suburb that is slowly killing me from without. I play piano and guitar and have a nintendo wii which I never play because I like games where I get to kill people.

Back to work related stuff, I'm currently developing a comic for OWL Magazine, which I'm finding quite the challenge, as it'sa mystery comic for tweens, and I normally work in mature reader formats.

I'm also developing some newer projects that will hopefully appear in both film and comics. Sadly, these new projects are on hold due to the writer's strike, which totally sucks. I support the writer's by the by.

On a sidebar, I read an article where someone representing the producers/studios stated that "I don't pay my plumber every time I flush the toilet." I think he needs to hire a writer for his sound bytes. Ha Ha.

I try to be funny sometimes.

If I am known for anything, it's for KISSING CHAOS. I created this graphic novel series a number of years ago, and it has done pretty well for itself. The books have gone into multiple printings, and has been translated into another language, and sold all over the world. I was nominated for an Eisner award for the work. There has been interest from hollywood in the series, but I'm keeping a tight rein on my baby.

Currently, you can read new tidbits of KISSING CHAOS in weekly comic strip form on TRANSMISSION-X.

This blog is my space to talk about all kinds of crap, and give running commentary on KC and other projects I got going on...

I love to get feedback on my work and other musings, so feel free to email, facebook/myspace or comment here!

the magic of your sigh...

I love comics.

I hate comics.

Equally.

We're off and on again. We've fought, made up and did it all over again, and again. We've had angry, violent, make up sex.

Right now, comics is pissing me off and it's all I can do to not smack them silly in a drunken rage just for giving me "that look".

So we are off again. Yet, oddly enough, this weeks comic is thus far one of my favourite that I've created for this KC:'Til I Die story appearing on Transmission-x.

Go figure.

I've been to the future and I've come back with...

the computer of tomorrow.

Today I watched the new Battlestar Galactica: Razor TV movie (which incidentally, I also got from the "future", since it doesn't air until later this month). I was blown away when I noticed that my current computer, the very machine where I create 100% of the art for the new Kissing Chaos webcomic, makes an appearance on screen about 9 minutes into the show!

Yes, the only logical explanation is that I somehow travelled to the distance future to steal their technology, and use it to create the comics of the future!!

OR, Asus is so ahead of the times, and created a laptop that the human race will be using for a long, long time.

yeah, this was funnier a few minutes ago.

procrastination

I'm spending far too much time on my guitar and piano and recording random songs than actually working on stuff that people pay me for...

I'm assuming this is like buying stuff with a credit card that I have to pay off later.
